  The whole idea of Roost & Root is to create beautiful functional products that can be manufactured to high standards in a shop from premium materials, and “kit” them in a way that ordinary handymen (even DIY’ers) can put them together. We design things to ship as economical as possible and be assembled “in-situ” rather than hiring building movers, or worse… cranes. Our ability to do this has been proven 10’s of thousands of times over and over in all 50 states for more than a decade.   Hire any local handyman and we’ll support them. Your new Abode ADU is designed with ordinary and common finish methods in mind. Most any handyman can finish out the exterior and interior with typical handyman skills.

  Yes! We’re part of the RenoFi contractor financing program. RenoFi helps homeowners finance renovation projects like building an ADU by offering customized renovation loans. These loans let customers borrow based on their home’s future value after the ADU is built, so they can often get more money than with regular home equity loans.

• Can I really build it myself?

  100% yes! You need two people who each are comfortable lifting 50 lbs or so. You’ll need to be able to work from a ladder… 😁 and you’ll need to follow our instructions. If you get stuck, we help you. No extra-ordinary skill required.

  In about a week to ten days with 2 people working full days… you’ll be done. Because of our materials choices and techniques, you can take up to 6 months to finish after dried in. That means you could get it to a dried in state in one season, and work on the inside or finishing the outside in a more climate friendly time of year… or even on weekends here and there.
  

• What if I don't want to build it?

  No worries! They’re so easy to build… no special skilled contractors are needed. Two good handymen in a week can have you completely dried in and ready for finishes. And we’ll even support them for you.
  

• What if I don't even want to figure it out?

  If you decide to go DIY, we’ll support you, free of charge, until you’re done with whatever we sell you. We’ll even support your handyman for the same. But we know not everybody wants to dive into this sort of project at all.

  Project Manager Service

  For a one time fee of $5,000 we will project manage the construction of your abode ADU for you. The service contract would include…

  • “Head Hunting” handymen in your area for you to meet with and hire.
  • Working with RenoFi to secure financing for you.
  • Working with your slab builder.
  • Supporting you or your representative with any materials needed for permitting or code compliance.
  • Supporting your ADU being dried in.
  • Supporting electrical, plumbing and mini split HVAC installation.
  • Supporting you or your representative with any utility hookups needed.

  We will support you or your representative until you’re moved in.

No cranes, no building movers… each piece can be carried by a person or two right to the site… even through a residential gate. And our kits, because they are pre-manufactured in a shop from “A” grade materials, are almost always more precise and of higher quality than site built stick wood structures.

  For 2026 we are planning on building only 6 ADU’s to give our new ADU shop a chance to properly “tool up” and allow us to provide very personalized support on each unit. This also allows our workers a critical period to develop the knowledge and minimize mistakes. We’re selling 6 monthly production spots starting in April 2026 for Model 1EX ADU’s only.
  
  1. Call us or text us to receive an Model 1 Specification Package.
  
  2. Decide on a Studio or Bedroom Model, pick an open month (April – November)  and place a $3500 deposit. Additional payments are due upon commencement of constructing your unit and the balance prior to shipping.
  
  3. Finalize your order choosing any options with our customer support team.
  
  4. Take care of any owner supply needs on your end, coordinating with your Roost & Root assembly advisor.
  
  5. Receive your Abode ADU™ and begin assembly at your site.
