Need more space, build an Abode. Our new Abode ADU’s are proper little backyard houses, not glorified sheds posing as an ADU. Don’t be fooled by their simplicity and good looks… these are fully code compliant IRC structures that will easily last 30 to 50 years or more with ordinary maintenance. They’re built like your home.

What makes it an EX model?
The EX-models, are configured with a small room off of the main living area that can be used as extra space or configured as a compact full bath. In its base configurations, it forms a fully dried in structure ready to battle the elements. You provide the interior and exterior surface finishes to your liking.
Want your ADU to match your home style?
Hire any local handyman and we’ll support them. Your new Abode ADU is designed with ordinary and common finish methods in mind. Most any handyman can finish out the exterior and interior with typical handyman skills.
Do you offer financing?
Yes! We’re part of the RenoFi contractor financing program. RenoFi helps homeowners finance renovation projects like building an ADU by offering customized renovation loans. These loans let customers borrow based on their home’s future value after the ADU is built, so they can often get more money than with regular home equity loans.Other benefits:

Can I really build it myself?
100% yes! You need to people who each are comfortable lifting 50 lbs or so. You’ll need to be able to work from a ladder… 😁 and you’ll need to follow our instructions. If you get stuck, we help you. No extra ordinary skill required.In about 5 days for 2 people working full days… you’ll be done. Because of our excellent materials choices and techniques, you can take up to 6 months to finish after dried in. That means you could get it to a dried in state in one season, and work on the inside or finishing the outside in a more climate friendly time of year… or even on weekends here and there.
Pre-manufactured is better and saves time and money...
All Roost & Root ADU’s are pre-manufactured using our Smart Kit™ Technology that allows two people of ordinary skill to assemble our products. DIY or ordinary handymen can easily assemble our kits. Like all of our Smart Kit™ structures, the Abode ADU™ can be economically delivered by LTL freight and dropped off conveniently by the driver with a lift gate and a pallet jack. No cranes, no building movers… each piece can be carried by a person or two right to the site… even through a residential gate. And our kits, because they are pre-manufactured in a shop from “A” grade materials, are almost always more precise and of higher quality than site built stick wood structures.7 ways an Abode ADU™ saves you money!

How do I buy an Abode ADU™ ?
For 2026 we are planning on building only 6 ADU’s to give our new ADU shop a chance to properly “tool up” and allow us to provide very personalized support on each unit. This also allows our workers a critical period to develop the knowledge and minimize mistakes. We’re selling 6 monthly production spots starting in April 2026 for Model 1EX ADU’s only.
1. Call us or text us to receive an Model 1 Specification Package.
2. Decide on a Studio or Bedroom Model, pick an open month (April – November) and place a $3500 deposit. Additional payments are due upon commencement of constructing your unit and the balance prior to shipping.
3. Finalize your order choosing any options with our customer support team.
4. Take care of any owner supply needs on your end, coordinating with your Roost & Root assembly advisor.
5. Receive your Abode ADU™ and begin assembly at your site.
